Ocean Blue Project February Recap: Saving Our Oceans, One Cleanup at a Time

It was a chilly morning on February 2, 2025, when Anderson B. and a group of passionate volunteers gathered under the early sun at Harrison County Beach, Pass Christian, MS. Armed with gloves, bags, and determination, they set out to make a difference. The sense of camaraderie was palpable as they worked side by side, removing debris threatening the coastline’s serene beauty.

Understanding Ocean Blue Project’s Mission

Ocean Blue Project is committed to removing plastic from our beaches. It focuses on the immense task of safeguarding marine life, such as the whales that traverse our vast oceans. Every piece of plastic removed is one less hazard for these magnificent creatures.

The Role of Plastic in Marine Endangerment

Plastic pollution is a silent threat lurking beneath ocean waves. Whales and other marine animals often ingest plastics, mistaking them for food. These incidents have devastating consequences, highlighting the urgent necessity for organizations like Ocean Blue Project.

Key Indicators of Ocean Health

Whales serve as vital indicators of ocean health. When they thrive, so do the ecosystems that support them. Initiatives focused on removing plastics play a crucial role in preserving these ecosystems. Read more about How Removing Plastic from Our Ocean Saves Whales
