The pollution in our communities is a reflection of what’s hurting the ocean. Whether you’re close to the water or not, you can fight ocean pollution with local changes. Make a difference by joining a community cleanup!
When not properly disposed of, litter and chemicals from urban populations, no matter how big or small, can end up in storm drains. These drainage systems lead to nearby bodies of water, which eventually empty into the ocean. Help us prevent ocean pollution by addressing it right in your backyard.
Urban communities are vital to the health of our one world Ocean and keeping our community litter free and chemical free is hard work. Everything goes down hill when we have flash flooding, or high winds. Finally, litter ending up in street drains, urban streams, rivers, or lakes all end up flowing to the ocean over time depending on how far from the ocean you live.
Most importantly, creating local community cleanups is a great way to teach youth the importance of healthy communities and clean water projects. Lastly, the more ocean plastic we can remove depends on Ocean Blue Cleanup volunteers like you! Thank you for supporting Ocean Blue Project the save the ocean organization nonprofit.Â
There are many ways you can help keep our environment healthy in your everyday life — plant a tree, pick up the discarded cup in the parking lot, limit your use of disposable plastics. If everyone makes small changes, we can make a big difference.
