What is Plastic Free in July and Why Was It Started?

Plastic Free July started in 2011 as a local initiative in Perth, Australia, and quickly grew into a worldwide movement. The campaign was created to raise awareness about the volume of single-use disposable plastics in our lives and challenge individuals to do something about it and prevent plastic pollution.

The mission: To build a global movement that dramatically reduces plastic use and improves recycling processes to create a sustainable future.
