Block 15 Beach Cleanup Newport, Oregon

Join us for a beach cleanup event in Newport, Oregon, hosted by Block 15 of Corvallis, and contribute to a cleaner and healthier environment.
Block 15 has partnered with Ocean Blue for several years during World Ocean Month. The company gives Ocean Blue support through impact making cleanups and through their People’s Pint program that donates a portion of a special pint all month long.
In Ocean Blue’s 12th year, our goal is to remove 5 million pounds of plastic and debris from the ocean by 2025. We are well on our way because of programs like Create a CleanUp. CleanUp Crew Leaders and volunteers have supported Ocean Blue Project in removing 1.3 million pounds of plastic and debris from beaches and ocean bound waterways as of June 2024, two years ahead of plan.
Create a CleanUp is an important volunteer-led program that brings people together to help Ocean Blue Project reach our goal of protecting and preserving our One World Ocean, no matter how inland they live. It’s a great way for organizations, companies, communities, and friends to make a positive difference in our world today while securing a better future for generations to come. Ocean Blue aims to empower 200 CleanUp Crew Leaders in organizing 5,000 volunteers to cleanup in their local communities around the United States.
All that’s necessary to get started is to register to be an Ocean Blue Cleanup Crew Leader and get a group together to clean up trash and debris from the beach. Ocean Blue Project obtains permits for beach cleanups and helps teams organize the event for the largest impact possible. Teams will pick up trash and debris, weigh the debris collected, separate out the plastic to be recycled, return microplastics to Ocean Blue Project for youth education and upcycling, and share impact stories through photos on social media channels. Ocean Blue Project makes it easy by providing a Crew Leader Guide and helping secure supplies as needed.
Ocean Blue Project’s CleanUp Program is not only for beaches. Did you know trash and debris that finds its way into street drains, urban streams, rivers and lakes all flows into the ocean eventually? That’s why we encourage holding CleanUp events in local communities no matter how far from the ocean you live. Consider the impact these events have both locally and globally:
- Fights ocean pollution
- Raises environmental awareness
- Protects birds, fish and other wildlife
- Brings people together in communities
- Helps reduce pollution’s impact on public health
- Inspires people to take pride in their community and keep it clean
